Prescribing Hypertension Treatment Medication – for an
Intermediate Elderly patient having a Chronic Disease – is a difficult task for any doctor.
I was this patient, an 80 year old man with Primary Hypertension - a Medical Condition that has no medically known Cause or Cure -
this Condition is one of the Medical Mysteries.
After the Hypertension medication was prescribed, I was told that I would have to take medication the rest of my life.

Medical science has defined and diagnosed Primary Hypertension as a Chronic Disease or an Illness or a Sickness -
Actually, Hypertension is a Symptom a sign or an indication of an existing Disease, Illness or Sickness within the body, mind, soul or spirit -

Treating A Mysterious Disease With Two Unknowns
It was in 2006, when my doctor told me that I had Primary Hypertension, also known as The Silent Killer - having no
medically known Cause or Cure - and I would have to be on medication for life.
Time To Take My Medicine
So the doctor immediately started prescribing my Hypertension Treatment Medications as the following:
- Amlodipine - 5 MG - once daily - for blood pressure - I took this medication for a short period of time - after this was Lisinopril -
- Lisinopril - 20 MG - once daily - for blood pressure - I took this medication for a short period of time before I was put on Atenolol exclusively.
- Atenolol - 25 MG - once daily - later increased to 50MG - once daily for blood pressure - I took this medication from May, 2007 until March 15, 2009.
Recapping My Prescription Drug Experience
(Good, Bad and Unknown) The Good aspects were:
- A decrease in my blood pressure -
- A lower pulse rate.
The Bad aspects were:
- Swelling of my right ankle
- Insomnia.
The Unknown aspects were the most frightening or terrifying -

Primary Hypertension Medication Side Effects
WARNING: Do not suddenly stop taking Atenolol - I did but I don't suggest you do - later I will show you my pressure readings when I suddenly stopped.
The possible side effects of Atenolol:
- Hives
- Difficulty breathing
- Swelling of Face, Lips, Tongue, or Throat
- Slow or Uneven Heartbeats
- Feeling Light-Headed,
- Stomach Pain
- Loss of Appetite
- Dark Urine
- Clay-Colored Stools
- Jaundice (Yellowing of the Skin or Eyes)
- Depression
- Cold Feeling in your Hands and Feet
- Decreased Sex Drive
- Impotence
- Tired Feeling
- Anxiety or Nervousness
When You Are The Patient, Be Concerned Of The Unknowns
During the time I was on the Hypertension Treatment Medications I, maintained my same Diet, Exercise, Water, Air, Herbs and Spices, Vitamins and Supplements routines.
Post MedicationOn May 16, 2009 I phoned my doctor and told him that I had
suddenly, discontinued taking all Hypertension Medications as of yesterday, May 15, 2009.
